Why you must do the Deoria Tal trek

Deoria Tal is situated at an altitude of around 2,300 m. Steeped in mythological association, its crystalline water offers spellbound images of its magnificent surroundings and Chaukhamba peak. There is not much to distract your senses except for captivating scenery and the chirping sounds of birds. Deoria Tal is one beautiful trek with its scenic beauty which will leave you in awe and you will never want to return. The grand view: Once you start the continuously ascending trek laid with stones, you are surrounded by a bird’s eye view of the Sari village down below, the mighty Chandrashila up above, and plenty of mountain folds leading to infinity. In less than 2 hours, you reach the beautiful Deoria Tal meadows, with the snow clad Chaukhamba, Nilkantha, Bandarpunch, Kedar Range, and Kalanagback adorning the back drop.   3. Fauna - If you enjoy birding, Deoria Tal is the perfect trail for you. The Great Barbet, Yellow Billed Blue Magpie, The Himalayan Blue Tail, Blue Capped Rock Trush, Ultramarine Fly Catcher are a few of the many species of birds you can spot on this trek. Apart from these incredible birds, Agamas and butterflies offer you a great photo op too.

  4. Peace, quiet and serenity: People say the real magic of Deoria Tal is to be witnessed during the sunrise. Early mornings are ideal, as the winds would not have not picked up steam, giving us the best still waters to function as mirrors. The lake is surrounded in a soothingly inclined field bounded by a deep wood cover. Set majestically in the lap of the magnificent mountain peaks, this is one of the best spots to stretch and meditate.   5. Experience culture:  At about a few hundred metres on this path is an ancient Shiva Temple, made in early Nagara architecture style. The walls of the temple are plain with geometrically placed ridges made in stone. The priest (baba) who lives and runs the temple from there, have incredible stories of perseverance and adventures to share to anyone who loves to sit down for a chat and a cup of chai.
